Florida Live Scan
Fingerprinting

Submit your fingerprints for FDLE or AHCA at any of our Florida or nationwide locations. Receive a TCN after submission to track the status of your background check.

Florida Level 2 Live Scan Submission (FDLE/AHCA)

We provide Live Scan fingerprinting for individuals completing a Level 2 background check through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) or the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Your fingerprints are captured electronically and transmitted directly to the correct Florida agency. After submission, you’ll receive a Transaction Control Number (TCN) to track the progress of your background check.

How It Works

Get the Correct ORI Number

Before starting, obtain the correct ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) number from your employer or requesting agency. Your ORI determines where your background check results will be sent.

Enroll Online (Required for UPS Store Locations Only)

Complete a short online enrollment form to pre-fill your information and receive a QR code for your fingerprinting session. This step is required only for participating UPS Store locations. For most other locations, online enrollment is optional but can speed up your visit.

Visit a Location

If you are inside Florida, you may visit any in-state location. Walk-ins are welcome, or you can enroll online ahead of time for faster check-in. If you are outside of Florida, you must enroll online and visit a participating UPS Store fingerprinting location near you.

Fingerprint Capture & Submission

Your fingerprints are captured electronically and securely submitted to FDLE or AHCA. AHCA applicants will also have their photo taken during the fingerprinting session.

Receive Your TCN

After submission, you'll receive your Transaction Control Number (TCN) by email. You can share this number with your employer or requesting agency to track the status of your background check.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is Florida Live Scan fingerprinting?

Florida Live Scan is an electronic fingerprinting process where your fingerprints are scanned and submitted digitally to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) or AHCA for a Level 2 background check.

  • Who needs a Florida Level 2 background check?

This service is required for many professions in Florida, including healthcare workers, real estate agents, security personnel, childcare providers, and other licensed professionals regulated by the state.

  • How does the Live Scan process work?

The process depends on the location. Some locations require you to enroll online before visiting, while others allow you to simply walk in with your ORI number. Once at the location, your fingerprints are scanned electronically and submitted to FDLE or AHCA for processing.

  • What do I need to bring to my fingerprinting session?

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and the correct ORI number provided by your requesting agency. This ensures your results are routed to the right department.

  • What is an ORI number and why is it required?

The ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) tells FDLE where to send the results of your background check. Without the correct ORI, FDLE cannot process your submission.

  • How long does Florida Live Scan fingerprinting take?

The fingerprinting itself typically takes only a few minutes, and results are usually transmitted electronically to the agency shortly after submission.

  • How do I check the status of my Florida background check?

You can track your submission using your TCN (Transaction Control Number) on the FDLE website. The TCN is printed on your fingerprinting receipt after your Live Scan is submitted.

  • What is the difference between a TCN and a TCR?

Your TCN is the tracking number for your original Florida Live Scan submission. A TCR is issued only if your fingerprints are rejected for quality. The TCR allows you to complete a resubmission without paying another state fee.

  • What do I do if my fingerprints are rejected?

If your prints are rejected for quality, you will receive a TCR to complete a resubmission. If you enrolled online, contact Certifix Support and we will initiate the resubmission and direct you to the appropriate location. If you did not enroll online, you may return to the original fingerprinting location with your TCR to be reprinted.

  • Is there a fee for a resubmission?

Most resubmissions due to fingerprint quality are processed at no additional charge. If the rejection is due to missing or incorrect data, the provider may need to correct the information and reprint at the original location.

  • Can I use the same fingerprints for multiple agencies?

No. Each ORI number requires a separate Live Scan submission because results are sent directly to the specific requesting agency.

  • Do you provide receipts or proof of fingerprinting?

Yes. You will receive a confirmation receipt showing the date of service and your TCN number for status tracking.

  • How long are my fingerprints valid?

Live Scan fingerprints in Florida are valid only for the purpose and agency tied to the ORI number. They cannot be reused for future applications.

  • Can I complete Florida Live Scan if I’m outside of Florida?

Yes. You can enroll online and complete your fingerprints at any nationwide participating location. Your prints are still routed electronically to FDLE.

  • Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?

Most locations accept walk-ins, but scheduling an appointment online ensures faster check-in and reduced wait times.

  • Will I receive a copy of my background check results?

FDLE sends your results directly to the agency associated with your ORI number. You may request a copy from the agency if they provide one.

  • Can I request a personal copy of my Florida criminal history?

Yes, but not through Live Scan. Personal reviews must be requested directly from FDLE.

  • Do you offer mobile fingerprinting for groups?

Yes. Certifix offers on-site mobile Live Scan services for employers, schools, and large groups needing Florida background checks.

  • What if I don’t know my ORI number?

Contact your employer, licensing board, or requesting agency. Certifix cannot determine or supply ORI numbers.

  • How soon should I complete my Live Scan after submitting my application?

Most agencies recommend doing Live Scan as soon as possible to avoid delays in licensing or employment approval.
