What is the difference between Live Scan and a background check?
Live Scan and a background check are related but not the same. Live Scan is the process of capturing your fingerprints electronically and submitting them to a government agency such as the FBI, FDLE, or a state authority. It does not provide results on its own.
A background check is the review of criminal or other records performed by the requesting agency using those fingerprints to verify identity and search their databases. In short, Live Scan collects and submits fingerprints, while the background check is the evaluation of records based on that submission.
